CILITUR Research Group

The research group Coastal Cities and Tourism – or simply CILITUR -, is coordinated by professor Cristina Araujo (UFPE) and professor Luciano Abreu (UFRRJ). Its members work with the tourism, production of space and public policies research line, which seeks to analyze the relations between tourist activity, public policies and their reflexes on the social production of Brazilian coastal spaces, tracing an overview of the production of space by tourism, highlighting the differences and similarities found considering the different processes of territorial and social division of labor established in the North, Northeast, Southeast and South regions. It works with three research areas: (i) tourism policies and territory; ii) tourism urbanization; iii) tourism and socio-spatial conflicts. There are nine institutions that make up the network: UFPE, UFRRJ, UFRPE, IFPE, UFPB, UFRN, IFRN, UFC. The group is registered in CNPq’s research group directory.
